We’re excited to share the “What We Heard” Round 2 engagement report for Port Alberni’s Transportation Master Plan. The focus at this stage was on obtaining feedback on Port Alberni’s draft transportation vision and goals, future network plans, and potential priority projects and improvement strategies. Community engagement was conducted between October 7, 2025 and March 30, 2026. Over 300 people provided feedback on the Round 2 survey that was open from March 5 to March 26, 2026.

Draft Vision

Port Alberni’s transportation system offers a safe and enjoyable journey for everyone—whether walking, wheeling, taking transit, or driving. Well-planned connections within the city and to the wider region help ensure a highly livable and sustainable community.

Next Steps

We will share and obtain feedback on the draft TMP with internal interest groups and City Council. A report will then be made to Council and the final TMP will then be shared with the community.

We’re pleased to launch Survey 2 for Port Alberni’s Transportation Master Plan, your opportunity to provide input on draft transportation priorities, policies, and improvements.

Last year, we heard from residents, businesses, and visitors about the need for safer streets, improved connections, and expanded transportation options. Survey 2 builds on that input by presenting draft directions for further feedback.

Your input remains vital to this process, and each response helps move the plan forward. The survey is open until March 26, 2026.

The Transportation Master Plan is moving into its next stage, and your input is helping guide the way. With Round 1 engagement complete, a background and benchmarking report in place, and urgent road safety needs identified, we’re now building on this foundation with traffic modelling, truck route studies, and policy reviews.

The presentations and Q&A sessions are focused, interactive discussions on the Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan and the Transportation Master Plan.

Participants can provide feedback on draft visions, goals, and strategies, and speak directly with project staff to ask questions and explore ideas in depth. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required to attend. [Register here]

At the third annual Connect with Your City Open House you can explore your city services, meet dedicated staff behind the important projects and initiatives that build your community, and gain a deeper understanding of the vital role each department plays in making Port Alberni a better place to live. Enjoy interactive displays, snacks, prize giveaways, and more! We also have childminding on site, provided by our wonderful Parks, Recreation and Culture staff, to keep your kiddies entertained while you connect on what matters most.
