Quay to Quay Pathway
QUAY TO QUAY PATHWAY
This trail is a multi-modal pathway connecting Harbour Quay and Victoria Quay. The pathway will also be routed
through, and to, other major Port Alberni destinations such as Roger Creek Park, Somass Lands, and
the train station at Harbour Road and Argyle Street. The project was approved by Council in
December 2021. Phase one will entail the construction of a base-level asphalt pathway, with design
elements and seating nodes to come later after engagement and consultation with First Nations and community partners.
HARBOUR QUAY
Work began at Harbour Quay in early July. The project will involve the renovation
of sections of the pathway that runs along a portion of Harbour Road, with the construction of two
new multi-modal crossings at the intersections of Argyle Street and Harbour Road.
ROGER CREEK
The renovation project for the pathway along the train track at Roger Street started in
early July. This initiative will cover various sections of the trail, starting from the pathway
that runs alongside the train track at Roger Street, round to Pemberton Road, before crossing the
street at Gertrude Street, and then ending at Margaret Street.
NEXT PHASES
At the January 22, 2024 Council meeting, Council approved $1,253,411 in funding from the Growing Communities Fund
in the 2024-2028 Financial Plan to complete the third and final phase of the Connect the Quays Pathway along Dry Creek and Roger Creek.
We are currently exploring ways to engage the community in the process of planning future pathway connections.
